Katy Independent School District

The areas served by the Katy Independent School District cover 181 square miles and include sections of Harris County, Fort Bend County and Waller County, with a student population of over 50,000. Based in Katy, Texas, the Katy ISD is a public school district and was conferred a “recognized” rating in 2009 by the Texas Education Agency.

The Katy ISD also consists of the unincorporated areas of Barker, Cinco Ranch and Cimarron. Each residence in the areas it serves is assigned an elementary school, a middle school and a high school.
When it started in 1934, the Katy ISD had just over 200 students; as of 2009, that number grew to over 57,000 students who are served by 52 schools, six of which are high schools.

The Katy ISD enjoys an extensive support network facilities: the Administration Building, Leonard E. Merrell Center, Rhodes Stadium, the law enforcement center and the transportation center to name a few. It also has these alternative education campuses:

  • Arthur Miller & Technology Center
  • Opportunity Awareness Center
  • Martha Raines/School of Choice
