Pearland Independent School District

The Pearland Independent School District is located at 1928 N. Main, Pearland, Texas. Faculty members total 1,500, and the district serves over 18,000 students. It covers much of the city of Pearland and Brookside Village, as well as the unincorporated areas in Brazoria County.

The Pearland ISD has a Board of Trustees made up of seven members. It covers:

  • 3 high schools
  • 2 alternative schools
  • 4 junior high schools
  • 4 middle schools
  • 11 elementary schools
In 2001, the Pearland ISD introduced the wearing of a uniform by all students.

Majority of the Pearland ISD schools received the “exemplary” and “recognized” ratings by the Texas Education Agency. None of its schools was rated “unacceptable.”

The Pearland ISD has a special services department that helps students with certain disabilities or impairments. Students are qualified to receive the school district’s special services if they suffer from any one of these conditions: autism, deaf-blindness, orthopedic impairment, mental retardation and other conditions. Students diagnosed as mentally retarded can take advantage of the school district’s Special Olympics Program. Children aged 6 and older can participate but only children aged 8 and older can compete.

The motto of the Pearland ISD is: prepare, perform, produce.
